Parks Week is held across New Zealand and Australia every March, to celebrate the vital role parks play in creating liveable cities and thriving communities.
The Gore District is well known for its beautiful parks and reserves, so each year, we highlight a different location to celebrate Parks Week with a free community event!
From scavenger hunts to playground fun, every park featured has its own distinct theme and celebration. With free giveaways and creative ways to explore our parks and gardens, this is a fun-filled time for the whole family to enjoy.
Parks Week 2026 runs from Monday 2 to Monday 9 March, but we’re kicking things off early with a fun-filled day at Tulloch Park, Mataura, on Sunday 1 March, in collaboration with Children’s Day. From 1:00 - 4:00pm, the park will be buzzing with FREE activities for kids, including face painting, pony rides, water fun, and much more. There’s something for the whole whānau to enjoy!
The scavenger hunt runs from Sunday 1 March to Monday 9 March, with awesome prizes to be won. Mark your calendars and come join the fun!
