The Gore District Council is one of three local authorities in Southland, the southern most province of New Zealand.
We look after the Gore District, which covers an area of 1250km². Our population is about 12,400. The two main towns in the district are Gore and Mataura, with smaller settlements at Pukerau, Waikaka and Mandeville.
Our economy is agricultural based. There are several large agri-businesses in the district as well as many small businesses supporting the rural sector. To find out more about our place go to www.gorenz.com.
