The Opportunity
We’re looking for two reliable, safety-conscious, and community-minded individuals to join our Aquatics team as Weekend Lifeguards at the Gore Aquatic Centre. Whether you’re an experienced lifeguard or keen to get qualified, this is a great opportunity to be part of a fun, supportive team.
You’ll be responsible for supervising pool users, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and providing excellent customer service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a team environment, and has a passion for water safety.
Shifts available:
- Saturday 09:45 – 17:00 and Sunday 12:30 – 16:30
- Saturday 12:30 – 16:30 and Sunday 09:45 – 17:00
In addition to the above you will:
- Monitor pool areas to ensure patron safety
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
- Provide first aid when required
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards around the facility
- Engage positively with customers and staff
- Enforce pool rules and regulations
- Assist with basic pool operations and maintenance
- Support aquatic programmes and events
- Work collaboratively with other lifeguards and supervisors
- Represent Gore District Council with professionalism and care
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current lifeguard qualification (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A responsible and proactive attitude
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- A genuine interest in community wellbeing and water safety
- Flexibility to work weekends as rostered
