Council seeks feedback from Community on Traffic Resolutions

The Gore District Council consultation on the 2025 Draft Roading Bylaw 2025 has now closed, with the Council now asking the public for input on specific rules that will support the new bylaw.

The Gore District Council general manager critical services Jason Domigan said these traffic resolutions are formal Council decisions about how roads, parking, and traffic are managed in specific locations across the district.

“They cover things like where you’ll have to pay for parking bus stops and one-way streets, speed limits, and weight restrictions on bridges,” he said.

“Most of these rules reflect what’s already in place under the current bylaw, so no significant changes are being proposed. We're simply formalising the existing arrangements.”

Once this second round of feedback is complete and following submissions and deliberations on the Draft Roading Bylaw 2025, staff will work on final amendments for the Council to consider when the Bylaw is adopted later in June.

Signs and road markings will reflect the rules, the information will be published online and the rules can then be enforced.

To see the proposed traffic resolutions, people can visit the Gore Let’s Talk page. To provide feedback, people can either fill out the online form on Let’s Talk or pick up a feedback form from the Gore District Council Office, the Gore Library or the Mataura Library and Service Centre, he said.

All feedback must be received by 5:00pm on Thursday 19 June 2025.
