Parks & Recreation

The Gore District is renowned for its public parks and reserves, colourful street plantings and recreational facilities. We maintain 239ha of reserves, which includes 40 individual parks and 26 playgrounds. We have 5.3ha of shrub beds, 2055 street trees and 1500m² of annual bedding.

The level of service for our parks, reserves and facilities, whether it is being delivered effectively and efficiently, and how the Council intends to meet future needs are contained in our Parks, Recreation and Facility Strategy [PDF, 3 MB].

Flying drones over our reserves

We realise drones are going to become more commonplace as technology improves and the cost drops. Our open public parks are ideal to fly a drone, so we have set aside eight areas where people do not need a permit to fly one. Details can be found on our drone flying page.
