The Gore District Council operates two libraries, the main library in Gore and a smaller library in Mataura that is combined with the town's service centre.

At the Gore Library you can choose from over 55,000 books to read. There are also free public internet computers at Gore and Mataura, as well as free WiFi 24/7 at both libraries.



Monday & Wednesday 9.30am to 8.00pm
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9.30am to 6.00pm
Saturday 10.15am to 1.00pm

Winter Sunday afternoon opening (May-September) is on hold while the library is in temporary premises at Jacob Street, and will resume when the library moves to the permanent Ardwick Street building late in 2022
