Terms & Conditions:


  • 0 per session if 16 or fewer people
  • per head if more than 16 people
  • Sessions last 2 hours (longer sessions available on request for an increased price)
  • Prices include stone and broom hire and an instructor


  • 4 players per team (can play with 3 per team if numbers are short.)
  • Clean trainer type footwear.
  • Instruction will be given to all groups.
  • 40 people can play on the ice at one time.

Do you require an Ice Coach?

It is advisable to arrive 15 minutes prior to your allotted time to arrange skates and organise children into groups. Children and helpers should wear warm but not restrictive clothing - gloves and hats are permitted but not scarves. Trouser legs must be above the ground and socks are essential. Spectators should dress warmly.

Ice Rink Bookings - Terms and Conditions

Groups: The rink is available to hire at the following times:

  • Monday/Tuesday/Thursday: 9.00am - 2.30pm
  • Wednesday: 10.30am - 2.30pm
  • Saturday: 4.00pm - 7.00pm
  • Sunday: 4.00pm - 9.00pm

Some Wednesday & Friday evenings from 7.00pm to 9.00pm are also available.

Social groups are charged at the following rates: 

Minimum charge 0 per hour (group size of fewer than 19 adults or fewer than 25 children).

  • If your group has more than 19 adults they will be charged at each per hour.
  • If your group has more than 25 children they will be charged at each per hour.
  • In the case of mixed groups of adults and children: if there are more than 19 people in the group, adults and children will be charged at the above adult and child rates.

Charges include rink entry, use of ice, use of penguin skating aids and skate hire.

Qualified Ice Coaches are also available upon request to teach/organise on-ice games between these hours. 1 coach per 12 children ½ hour max (=25 children per hour). Coach available at a cost of per hour.

All skaters skate at their own risk.

Please note that the booking is not confirmed until you have received a confirmation letter.

A cancellation fee will be incurred if notification is within 5 days of the booking.

Conditions of Entry to the Gore Multisports Complex

Welcome to the Gore Multisports Complex, incorporating the MLT Event Centre, Gore Aquatic Centre and Ice Sports Southland ice skating rink. To ensure you or your group’s use of the complex and pools is enjoyable and incident free, please read the following. Staff are always available to answer any questions you may have.

  • The person in charge of the class/group must make themselves known to the Pool or Stadium Supervisor to be given information about the facility rules.
  • All children should use the toilet prior to entering the water. This helps prevent any unnecessary accidents in the pool, which have a huge impact on the operation of the aquatic centre.
  • Pre-school children using the pool must have correctly fitted swimwear eg Little Swimmers. These can be purchased at reception.
  • All incidents requiring first aid must be recorded. Please talk to a staff member in the facility you are using.
  • All fire exits must be kept clear of bags and equipment.
  • Facility equipment should be treated with respect at all times.
  • Facility signage must be adhered to.

School Groups

  • Female parent helpers are not permitted in the male changing rooms and vice versa. If a child requires help dressing, the family changing rooms should be used.
  • Children under the age of 8 years must be actively supervised by a responsible adult, aged 16 years or over, actively supervising and able to provide immediate assistance.
  • Children under 5 years must have a responsible adult, aged 16 years or older, in the water at all times actively supervising and able to provide immediate assistance.
  • It is important to have a person/persons in charge, actively supervising the group at all times. This includes the changing room area. Anyone not participating in activities should be in the seating area.
  • Please ensure students/groups respect other users in the changing room. After they have changed, equipment should be placed in the poolside cubby holes or tidily off court. Keep thoroughfares clear in the changing rooms.
  • Please inform staff if there is anyone in your group who has a medical condition or learning/ behavioural issues that may impact on their visit to the facilities.
  • We request that anyone who has had diarrhoea must be clear for 24 hours prior to entering the pool.
  • All children wishing to obtain entry to the main pool inflatables will be asked to complete a 25m consistent swim test in freestyle. Please do not be offended we are looking out for our patrons safety and all pool rules must be adhered to.
  • In the event of an emergency facility staff will assume control of groups. Groups are to follow our procedures for evacuation. School or group leaders will be responsible for any students, or people associated with their group, not in the water.

Meeting Room Bookings

  • The hirer is responsible for leaving the meeting room in a clean and tidy condition following the conclusion of the booking. If cleaning is not completed to a satisfactory standard and staff are required to complete the work, the hirer will be charged accordingly.
