Our Facilities

The Gore District is renowned for having recreational facilities, parks and reserves of outstanding quality and variety. We also have internationally acclaimed arts and heritage facilities.

Sports is an important part of our community and the jewel in the District's sporting crown is the Gore Multisports Complex. The complex features:

  • Gore Aquatic Centre
  • MLT Event Centre
  • Ice Sports Southland ice skating rink

In the same area is the Eastern Southland Hockey Association's water turf and Newman Park, home to Eastern athletics. The park is also used for touch rugby and rugby union.

The nationally recognised Gore Gardens, Bannerman Park and Dolamore Park are among key parks and recreational areas in the District.

If it is arts and heritage you are after, a must-see is the Eastern Southland Gallery; with its John Money Wing and Ralph Hotere exhibition, as well as visiting exhibitions.

NB: For more information about the ice skating rink go to the Ice Sports Southland website.  You will find info about the hockey turf on the Eastern Southland Hockey Association website.
