Level 2 Services and Facilities

 Our Opening Hours

The Council's main office and Gore Library are returning to normal hours. 

  • Council main office hours effective from Friday 29 May - open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm. Thursday 9.00am - 5.00pm 
  • Gore Library - open Friday 29 May 11.00am - 4.00pm. From Tuesday 2 June opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9.30am - 5.00pm, Sunday 1.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Gore Multisports Complex (Gore Aquatic Centre & MLT Event Centre) - Monday to Friday 8.00am - 7.00pm, and Sunday 1.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Gore Visitor Centre - Monday to Friday 11.00am - 4.00pm
  • Mataura Library - Monday to Friday 1.00pm – 4.00pm

We are required to do contact tracing at all our facilities, so please do not be offended when we ask for your contact details.

 

Important Details 

 

Payment

We will accept eftpos at all our facilities. NO cash.  

Rates: If you pay your rates by cheque, please write out the cheque at home so you can drop it off in the secure container at our office. A receipt can be posted to you if requested.

 

At the Gore Library

  • There will be a limit of 25 people in the Gore library at any one time to ensure social distancing. The limit is five at Mataura.
  • Children under 14 should stay home. Go to gorelibraries.govt.nz for online reading and fun activities.
  • Computers, newspapers and printing service will be unavailable.
  • No public wifi at Gore and Mataura. 
  • If you are unable to visit the library, please contact library staff to ask for a loan selection to be prepared for you and to make a time to collect it.
  • Staff will quarantine books for two days when they are returned. 

 

At the Gore Aquatic Centre

  • The main pool will be only for lane swimming and aqua jogging, one person per lane. 
  • The leisure pool will be only for family groups, maximum of four people. No spectators.
  • The hydrotherapy pool will be closed.
  • Customers must book to use the pool. Bookings will start on the hour. Customers will have 45min in the water and must get out of the water 15mins before their booking finishes.
  • Please arrive at the pool in your swimwear, ready to start upon entry. Customers will be allowed in five minutes before their hour starts.
  • No swimming lessons.
  • No Shark Squad training. Some training will be available in a limited capacity outside public hours, the Shark Squad coach will contact those students.
  • No aqua classes.
  • No group bookings.
  • All swim concession cards will be extended eight weeks.
  • All fitness concession card will be extended.

 

At the MLT Event Centre 

  • Customers must book for court use, this must include warm up and cool down times. 
  • Payment on the day and in full prior to use by one person before group enters the stadium.
  • Stadium users must have their own water/drinks and ice packs.
  • Team coaches must complete contact tracing for their teams.
  • Public gallery closed
  • All hire and sporting equipment unavailable
  • Showers and changing rooms closed
  • No group activities, eg Laser Tag, Bubbleball, indoor sports
  • One person, per hour, per hoop for shots, court 2 only.
  • Tennis & Pickleball bookings (singles and doubles) allowed.

 

Museums 

  • The Eastern Southland Gallery and Hokonui Moonshine Museum are closed.
  • The Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre will open on Tuesday 19 May. Its hours are Tuesday to Sunday 10.00am – 3.00pm. 

  

Gore Transfer Station / Wheelie Bin Collection

Normal winter hours. These are:

  • Monday to Friday 10.30am - 5.00pm
  • Saturday 10.30am - 4.00pm
  • Sunday 12 noon - 4.00pm

The Mataura transfer station is CLOSED 

 

Wheelie Bin Collections

Recycling and rubbish collection services continue as normal.

 

Playgrounds and parks

Playgrounds are open. Please remember:

  • To remain 2 metres away from others
  • To wash and dry your hands or use hand sanitiser before and afterwards
  • To not touch your face and to cough and sneeze into your elbow
  • That if you have cold or flu symptoms, stay off the equipment

Sports grounds and parks are open.

 

Dolamore Park

Open - the toilets and playground are available. There's NO camping, the kitchen is closed and the BBQ turned off.
