Hunt on for cause of Main St leak
The Gore District Council’s 3 Waters staff are on the hunt for the cause of a leak in Gore’s Main Street.
The leak at the Main Street / Mersey Street roundabout appeared earlier this month.
3 Waters Asset Manager Matt Bayliss said the leak might be coming from an old irrigation line that supplies water to the garden in the middle of the roundabout.
“Unfortunately we don’t have any records showing the exact location of the irrigation line.
"We don’t want to start digging without knowing where the leak is. Digging on the off chance we might find something could see us end up with a large and expensive job, not to mention significant disruption to traffic.”
Leak detection contractors will be on site later this week. Depending on what they find any repair work may have to be delayed until the Council gets a traffic management plan approved by the New Zealand Transport Agency.
