Theft at Dolamore Park
The Gore District Council is appealing for any information about suspicious activity at Dolamore Park after the theft of a small fridge at the weekend.
The fridge, which belonged to North Island visitors camping at the park, was taken from the kitchen. It was full of food.
Campers report hearing a car arrive at the park between 1.00am and 1.30am on Sunday, and its occupants playing on the flying fox.
The theft follows unsuccessful attempts to break into the honesty box at the park over the last couple of weeks.
Communications/Marketing Manager Sonia Gerken said the park was a popular camping spot with visitors to the District, as well as locals.
“It is one of our main visitor attractions, so it’s a shame when the actions of a few detract from what should be a positive experience.”
The Council has notified police of the theft. The fridge was a Kiwi Camping three-way fridge and coloured grey.
Mrs Gerken said someone may have noticed the fridge and wondered where it came from.
“If so please call us. The owners plan to return to Gore after exploring the south so it would be nice if we could give the fridge back to them.”
The public can contact the Council by phoning 209 0330, send a private message on our facebook page or send a report via Antenno.
