Gore releases 2026 Annual Residents’ Survey

Gore District residents are being encouraged to have their say on the services, facilities and future direction of the district as the 2026 Annual Residents’ Opinion Survey gets underway.

The survey provides an important opportunity for residents to share their views on a wide range of Council services and facilities, including water services, roads and footpaths, parks and reserves, community facilities, communications and overall Council performance.

Mayor Ben Bell said the survey was one of the most valuable ways Council could hear directly from the community.

"We want to know what we're doing well, where we can improve, and what's important to our residents. The feedback we receive helps shape Council decisions and priorities, so I encourage everyone who is contacted to take part."

The survey will be independently conducted by Purple Ink NZ Ltd, ensuring responses remain confidential and results are reported in a way that protects individual privacy

Chief Executive Debbie Lascelles said the survey plays an important role in helping Council understand community expectations.

"The Annual Residents' Survey provides a snapshot of how our community feels about the services and facilities we provide. It's an opportunity for residents to tell us what matters most to them.’’

The survey is conducted annually and allows Council to track trends over time, measure performance and monitor progress against key service levels. To ensure responses are reflective of the population, quota exists for age, gender and ward. Collection modes will be both online and by telephone, supplemented by face-to-face surveys as required.

Mayor Bell said. It is important to participate. “This is your chance to help shape the future of the Gore District. Your views help provide a better picture of our community's views and aspirations.’’

The survey results will be presented to Council later in August and will be made publicly available.
