Draft Gore District Reserve Management Plan Volume 3: Town Belt Reserves [PDF, 5.9 MB]
Draft Gore District Reserve Management Plan Volume 4: Dolamore Park Scenic Reserve [PDF, 1.2 MB]
Council parks and reserves are generally administered under the Reserves Act 1977. The Act requires that the Council prepare reserve management plans to provide for and ensure the proper use and protection of the reserves consistent with the principles of the Act.
A management plan provides the community with certainty about the management of each reserve administered by Council. It also helps ensure that management decisions are appropriate.
There is a set process for preparing a reserve management plan. That process is:
The process typically takes around six months depending on the number of submissions received and the complexity of the issues. The draft plans are now available for formal submissions (step 5). If you make a submission, you will have an opportunity to speak at a hearing to discuss your submission.
The Council has prepared separate management plans to address the specific needs of the Town Belt and Dolamore Park Scenic Reserve.
The Council has recently adopted the Gore District Reserve Management Plan: Volume I General Policies which provides general policies that will apply to all reserves (including the Town Belt and Dolamore Park).
The new management plans will provide policies specific to the Town Belt and Dolamore Park Scenic Reserve where the general policies do not give adequate certainty. Each plan will provide a brief summary of the attributes of each reserve and identify objectives to guide the development, use and management. The plans will update and replace the current Dolamore Park Management Plan (2001) and the Gore Town Belt Management Plan (2006).
If you have a submission concerning the draft reserve management plans, you’re welcome to send it in now.
Your submission must be received by Council no later than 24 February, 2017.
You can find the draft plans at Council offices and libraries if you want to view a hard copy.
