Parking
The CBD area in Gore is controlled by parking meters and time restricted areas. Please ensure that you comply with the restrictions that are in place when parking within the CBD area.
Free Public Carparks:
- Brennan Lane Carpark is free to park in but has a 2 hour time restriction
- Tamworth Lane carpark has no restriction.
- Both of these Carparks are within walking distance to all shops and cafes
Mobility Parking:
- There are a number of mobility parking spaces in the CBD.
- People wishing to use a mobility parking space MUST display a current Mobility Parking Permit
- Failure to do so may result in a $150.00 infringement notice
Parking costs $1.00 per hour and the meters accept NZ currency only.
If you have received a parking infringement notice, you may pay for this at the Gore Council Offices, 29 Civic Avenue; at Destination Gore Visitor Centre, Crn Norfolk Street and Hokonui Drive, Gore; the Mataura Service Centre, 1 Bridge Street, Mataura; or via electronic banking.
You may lodge an explanation regarding an infringement notice you have received. All explanations must be in writing and Council will advise you accordingly of the decision.
Please note that the Gore District Council does not monitor business-owned carparks, such as supermarkets, warehouses etc.
Tradespeople working in CBD:
There are, on a number of occasions, tradespeople who need to use parking spaces in the CBD while working on buildings or shops. Parking spaces are available for all tradespeople to hire on a daily basis.
To hire parking spaces please contact the Parking Department on 209 0330 to make arrangements.
Council have no issue with tradespersons using any parking spaces (metered or time zoned) while working in the CBD and advise that you must contact the Parking Department before using these spaces.
Tradespeople who do not feed the meter or have not hired a parking space will be issued with an infringement notice for failing to comply with the parking restrictions.
Total Mobility
Total Mobility is a nationwide scheme that provides subsidised taxi transport. The scheme is for people with impairments and is administered by the Invercargill City Council.
The Total Mobility Scheme is available to people who, because of physical, sensory, intellectual, neurological or psychological impairment, are unable to proceed from the destination stop to the trips end without assistance.
To qualify for subsidised travel application must be made through an agency. Those who are issued with the trip ticket receive a 50% discount on the normal taxi fare.
For further information regarding Total Mobility, please contact the Total Mobility Southland Co-ordinator at the Invercargill City Council on 03 211 1777 or email service@icc.govt.nz
