Road Closures & Road Conditions

Gore District Road Closures

Avon Street Closure

Avon Street, in Gore, will be partially closed to traffic from Monday 20 January until about Tuesday 31 March to allow for resurfacing of the road and upgrading underground services.

The street is part of the town’s heavy traffic bypass. To minimise disruption for road users it is intended to keep one lane of Avon Street open. This lane will be available only for northbound traffic.

There will be a detour for southbound traffic via Hokonui Drive/SH94, turning left at the Main Street/SH1 roundabout, then right to rejoin the heavy traffic bypass on River Street.

Access to businesses in Avon Street will be via Richmond Street. There will be no access via Hokonui Drive.

The work will be carried out between 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, with some work on Saturday as required.

We will update information as the project progresses.

If you have any questions please phone our contractor Fulton Hogan (03) 211 6000 or Transport Manager Peter Standring, 2090330.

Southern Field Days - Waimumu Road Closure

Waimumu Road will be closed to through traffic at the Southern Field Days site, from Wednesday 12 February until Friday 14 February. A detour will be available via Lady Charlton Road, Kelvin Road, Duthie Road and Glendhu Road.

Woolwich Street Closure

Woolwich Street will be closed from Walnut Grove to Boundary Road on Sunday 23 February from 7.30am. The closure is to allow for the 1/8th mile drag racing to be held.

Charlton Lane Closure

Charlton Lane, between #34 and #42, will be closed to through traffic from Monday 6 January until Monday 30 March to allow for the construction of an entrance to the fuel stop. There will still be access to businesses on either side.

Falconer Road closure update

Falconer Road will remain closed to through traffic until early February as work continues on the major upgrade, which includes sealing the entire length of the road, earthworks, underground drainage and accessways.

There will be restricted access for residents and to businesses via Waiau Street. This includes access to Transport Repairs. Traffic management will be in place throughout the construction period.

Whenever possible we will list upcoming road closures. Unless otherwise stated please contact our Transport Manager Peter Standring, phone 209 0330, for more information if required.
