Gore Transfer Station / Wheelie Bin Collection

The Gore transfer station will be open to Gore District residents during the COVID-19 lockdown, at a reduced service.

It will be open on Saturdays and Wednesdays, 10.30am to 5.00pm for GREEN WASTE ONLY.

Waste disposal is FREE, but customers are asked to follow a few simple rules to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. These are:

• Anyone with general waste will be turned away

• Only one person per vehicle

• One vehicle in / one out

• Stay in your vehicle while queuing

• Any abuse of staff or the rules and the transfer station is likely to be closed.

The details of all vehicles will be recorded as they enter.

Wheelie Bin Collections

Recycling and rubbish collection services will continue as normal.

If you do not have kerbside collection services, you will be able to register your need with us, and we will work with you to accommodate your needs. Any decisions around this will be based on preserving public health during COVID-19, and we ask for your patience during this time.

Further information is available on the WasteNet website.

Rates Payments

The Council will process its rates as normal during the COVID-19 lockdown.

We understand people may be struggling financial during this period. Those who need support should contact the Ministry of Social Development  or go to the Government's dedicated COVID-19 website

If you are having difficulty meeting mortgage repayments, you may want to contact your bank and ask for advice about the possibility of being given a mortgage holiday.

As always, please contact us if you are in genuine hardship. We can organise a payment plan with you using our direct debit facility. Direct Debit payments can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or by instalment, which can help smooth payments.

Please contact us via email or phone 03 209 0330, and someone will be in touch to help you with a payment plan.

It is important to remember that essential council services are still in operation and we also have financial commitments, many to small local businesses.

Our Services

Street Cleaning

Our contractor will continue to clean the streets twice a week. It is important to keep our kerb and channels clear of debris. This is due to debris creating major issues by blocking stormwater drains when it rains, which causes surface flooding.

The contractor is totally isolated in their vehicle, and poses no threat to the community.

Our Facilities

  • We have increased the number of eBooks through the library website
