Second consultation phase for District Plan changes

The Council's District Plan proposed changes process enters its second phase of consultation this week with the notification of submissions received.  Over the next fortnight, until 9 November, specific parties will have the chance to make a submission for or against the submissions already made.

Council consultant planner Keith Hovell said the Council received 42 submissions from individuals or groups.

"This is the first significant suite of changes since the District Plan was made operative in 2006 and submitters have provided some very useful feedback and information."

The majority of the 14 proposed changes respond to issues and situations raised by the public, Mr Hovell said.

Changes that attracted the most attention relate to flooding, additions to the heritage building register, the introduction of townscape provision for Gore's commercial area and the liberalisation of sub-division rules.
