AQUATIC CENTRE SUPERVISORS Closing Date: Fri, December 04, 2009

Two positions, 1 permanent full-time, 1 fixed term, parental leave cover.

The Council is now looking for two new dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Supervisors to work at its award winning aquatic centre.

The primary aim of these positions is to actively supervise aquatic activities, as well as teach swim school classes through the very popular Leaping Frogs Swim School. We need you to be a willing partner in a team that strives to deliver the best possible experience for patrons and offer innovative programmes for all ages of our community. The Aquatic Centre operates on a roster system seven days a week. These full-time positions are based on a 37.5 hour week.

We need you to:

  • Have a can do attitude and a mature outlook
  • Be a reliable team player who enjoys working with people
  • Want to make a difference by providing excellent customer service
  • Hold a current first aid certificate and the National Pool Lifeguard Award, or be prepared to train for them
  • Be a competent swimmer
  • Have a champion attitude!

INDOOR EVENTS CENTRE SUPERVISOR Closing Date: Fri, December 11, 2009

This is a newly created, permanent position to fulfil the Council’s undertaking to operate an about to be opened, indoor events centre which is the third stage of Gore’s unique multi-sports complex. The complex also comprises an Olympic short course ice rink and an indoor aquatic centre including an eight lane swimming pool, leisure and hydrotherapy pools.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the operation of the new centre, featuring four courts and associated amenities.

We are now looking for a keenly motivated and committed person who can stamp their mark on this new facility. Specifically, we need you to:

  • Hold an appropriate qualification in sport and recreation.
  • Have at least 5 years experience in either the sport and recreation field or event centre supervision.
  • Be physically fit and able, and recreation focussed.
  • Be a great team player who is flexible, self motivated and proactive.
  • Possess a high level of computer skill and demonstrated knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Experience with an electronic booking system would be advantageous, but training will be provided.
  • Have the ability to communicate with lots of great people in our community.

GIS CADET Closing Date: Fri, December 04, 2009

Do you enjoy using computers and have an interest in information technology, engineering, geography, maps or GPS?

We have a vacancy for a GIS Cadet that would suit a school leaver. We will train the successful applicant through a combination of on the job experience and other training opportunities that arise.

The Council uses GIS (Geographic Information System) for a wide range of functions such as looking after its roading, water, parks and reserves assets as well as defining property boundaries.

The cadetship provides a great opportunity for a keen young person to gain entry into the IT profession, be paid while training and not incurring a student loan millstone while still living in Gore.
