Gore District Council Dog Information

All dog owners are legally required to register their dogs by 31 July each year. Application forms are sent to all known dog owners several weeks prior to the due date.

The Council offers a discount to owners whose dogs have been neutered or spayed. Current registration fees can be obtained by contacting the Council office.

Any queries regarding dog registration or payments please contact the customer services department.

Any other queries regarding dogs please ask for the dog control officer. He is happy to call and discuss any queries or problems you may have, or alternatively, you may call the office on 209 0330.

After hours queries and complaints can be handled by telephoning 209 0330.

DOG REGISTRATION FEES 2006-07

The following fees have been adopted by the Gore District Council and will take effect as from 1 July 2006

Urban Dog

Registration Fee: Urban Dog $110.00
(a) Less (fenced or a controlled property) $(20.00)
(b) Less (no dog complaints impoundments or infringements within a two year period) $(30.00)
(c) Less neutered or spayed $(10.00)
Registration Fee inclusive of (a), (b) and (c) $50.00
Licence Fee (three or more dogs) $150.00
National Dog Database Levy (per owner) $1.50
 

Rural Dog

Registration Fee: Rural Dog $ 15.00
(a) Add (dog complaints impoundment or infringement within a two year period) $ 30.00
National Dog Database Levy (per owner) $ 1.50
 

Late registration Fees

Urban $ 20.00
Rural $ 10.00
 

Dog Poundage

First Impoundment: dogs with current GDC registration $50.00
First Impoundment: unregistered $80.00
Every subsequent impoundment $150.00
Destruction costs (where owner of dog is known) $50.00
Sustenance (per day) $10.00
Additional fee for impounding or dog release at weekends, public holidays and outside Council office hours $50.00
 

Dog Microchipping

For standard microchipping of dogs released from the pound $36.00
Non-standard microchipping procedures will be charged at cost Cost
