Gore District Council Dog Information

All dog owners are legally required to register their dogs by 31 July each year. Application forms are sent to all known dog owners several weeks prior to the due date.

The Council offers a discount to owners whose dogs have been neutered or spayed. Current registration fees can be obtained by contacting the Council office.

Dog Registration Fees

The following fees have been adopted by the Gore District Council and will take effect from 1 July 2012.

Urban Dog

Registration Fee: Urban Dog $112.50
National Dog Database Levy (NDDL) - per owner $1.50
Less  
(a) Less (fenced or a controlled property) -$20.00
(b) Less (no dog complaints impoundments or infringements within a two year period) -$30.00
(c) Less neutered or spayed -$10.00
Registration Fee inclusive of (a), (b) and (c) $52.50
Licence Fee (three or more dogs) $150.00

Rural Dog

Registration Fee: Rural Dog $16.00
National Dog Database Levy (per owner) $1.50
Plus  
(a) Dog complaints impoundment or infringement within a two year period $30.00

Late registration Fees

Urban dog $20.00
Rural dog $10.00

Dog Poundage

First Impoundment - current registration $50.00
First Impoundment: - unregistered $80.00
Every subsequent impoundment $150.00
Destruction costs $70.00
Sustenance per day $10.00

Dog Microchipping

For standard microchipping of dogs released from the pound $36.00
Non-standard microchipping procedures will be charged at cost  
Additional fee for impounding or dog release at weekends, public holidays and outside Council office hours $50.00

All dogs not registered by 5pm on Friday 17 August 2012 will incur a late registration fee.  Dogs not registered by Friday 14 September 2012 will incur an infringement notice.
